SCOPE

60,000 sf spillway; 280 acre park

Located at Black Hoof Park, the dam and spillway is the feature element of Lenexa’s Rain to Recreation Program which is designed to improve water quality, reduce flooding and provide recreation and education. The design theme centered on the flow of water harnessed by man through nature and filtered before being sent back to nature with the goal to go beyond functional and aesthetically pleasing to become a sculptural component and focal point of the park.
The dam and spillway have received several local and national awards and has been featured in magazines in the US and in Europe.
