We all experience architecture in many different ways. We consciously interact with it every day but we have unconsciously been affected by it from the day we were born. It is our room, house, street. It’s our schools, churches, offices. It’s the landscape in which we live. Fundamentally, it affects us every day in every way. Our senses drive our emotions and architecture can facilitate a good or bad experience: from the warmth of a porcelain tile radiant floor, to the touch of a cold marble counter top on a winter’s day.

Each experience helps us form emotions, memories and even the decisions we make. In designing a space, we must always keep in mind the experience we are giving the user. Not just meeting the requirements, but enveloping the senses through the materials and textures we use, both inside and out. We ♥ architecture because the sense of sight, touch, smell, sound, and yes even taste add to the texture of our built environment and are key factors in creating a beautiful environment.
