I was on the phone with this contractor that I have been working with for the last year and I hear, “Wait!” He then proceeds to ask me what happened with my Huskers and that with their loss that they had let him down. You see, he is a Sooner fan. We then proceeded to discuss Oklahoma and Nebraska having to each win their last games for the possibility to face off for one last hurrah in the Big 12 Championship game. It was going to be the end of a great legacy. But it wasn’t a conversation about “my team is better than your team.” It was about us both being a part of something greater than ourselves.
This is how our working relationship has been. We both see ourselves working together to be a part of something bigger. We ♥ architecture because we see ourselves as part of the same team, working together to make the project the best that it can be. Since we have the opportunity to work on another project together we have spent quite a bit of time discussing successes and downfalls in the last project to make the next one even better.
But in the end, I’ll admit, I want the Huskers to whip those Sooners…
