The Heartland Region of the U.S. General Services Administration has signed the final lease agreement with CenterPoint Zimmer, LLC, for a new campus to house the National Nuclear Security Administration’s manufacturing operations. The campus will be located at the northeast corner of Missouri Highway 150 and Botts Road, eight miles south of the NNSA’s current location. A phased move is scheduled to begin in late 2012. The campus of buildings will house about 2,500 workers in 1,509,950-rentable-square-feet of space

Gastinger Walker Harden Architects will be providing the Construction Manager as Agent services for the new facility and will support the GSA Region 6 staff. Our team will feature five staff members, including Wade Walker and Craig Childers, our VP of Construction Services.

GSA partnered with the National Nuclear Security Administration in 2006 to assist with the real estate needs associated with the transformation of the Kansas City Plant. The plant produces and assembles non-nuclear components for the nation's nuclear weapons. Relocation of the plant is projected to save the government about $100 million annually.

The new campus will consist of manufacturing, laboratory, office and warehouse space. It is expected to receive a gold-level rating in the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED program.
