Gastinger Walker Harden Architects is in the process of wrapping up the construction documents on its first “net zero” energy building for UMB Bank. On sunny days it will send excess electricity back into the utility grid banking that power which will offset what the need on gray days or on ones where the demand is more power than the solar panels can make. When you look at the overall energy bill on an annual basis, the bill will be "net zero”. Click "Read More" for additional information and renderings.

The 3,200 square foot new branch bank will be constructed in Phoenix, Arizona and will be the first retail free-standing branch bank for UMB in the Phoenix market. The building will incorporate photovoltaic panels, geothermal heat pumps and an extremely energy efficient design. The preliminary review for our LEED application indicates this project could be certified LEED Gold and possibly Platinum.

The Arizona Power Service is providing incentives to assist in making the building design economically feasible. The new branch bank will be located in the fashionable Kierland MAX development located on Scottsdale Road and Paradise Lane.
