This is what the jury said about the project:
"This project tackled a number of difficult challenges successfully, including thermal improvements and asbestos abatement, all while keeping the building in continual occupation. A new security entry was very sensitively added. The new entry is clearly a modern addition, yet complements the strong design statement. New "Streets in the Sky" with color coding and street names help with wayfinding. A very sensitive insertion of modern upgrades in a nearly invisible way."

Encompassing two full city blocks in the Municipal, State and Federal government district of downtown Kansas City, the massive 18-story Bolling Building is a landmark on the city skyline and a flagship complex for the GSA, in the community and the region. The individual 50,000 square foot tower floor plans make it the largest high rise office building in the Kansas City metropolitan area at more than 1.2 million gross square feet.
The Bolling Building was one of only 14 buildings to be recognized in 2008. The GSA manages over 1,500 federally owned buildings world-wide.
Gastinger Walker Harden Architects has a successful 10 year relationship with Helix Architecture + Design on the Bolling Building renovation. The project is scheduled for completion in 2014.
